We move the world to protect the 70 billion animals farmed each year
The treatment of farm animals is the world’s biggest animal welfare issue – and it’s getting bigger. By 2050, livestock production will be twice what it was in 2000. Right now, more than 70 billion animals are farmed for food each year – two-thirds in conditions that mean they can’t move freely or live naturally.
We campaign to end this cruelty. For animals, people and the planet, factory farming must stop.
We move the world to protect the one billion animals that live in communities
We find the most effective ways to protect animals in communities – and then we act.
So we help governments to manage dog populations humanely and to vaccinate against rabies, instead of culling dogs. We share advice on responsible pet ownership. We prevent working animals being overworked and abused. We do whatever is necessary to protect animals in communities worldwide.
We move the world to protect and rescue animals in disaster zones
When disasters hit, animals experience the same terrible effects as people: injury, starvation, thirst, displacement, illness and stress
We move fast to protect animals affected by earthquakes, floods, typhoons and other disasters.
We provide food, water, medical care, and other emergency assistance to animals in need. We evacuate animals from danger, and reunite animals and owners that have been separated.
We move the world to protect wild animals – and keep them in the wild
From the jungle to the oceans, wild animals face ongoing threats of cruelty and abuse. Bears are captured and forced to fight dogs. Marine mammals, such as whales and dolphins, forced to perform in cruel entertainment venues. Wild animals are traded as exotic pets or unproven medicine.
But long-lasting, genuine change is possible, so we move governments and communities worldwide to protect these wild animals – and by supporting our campaigns, you can help to keep wild animals safe and wild.
World Animal Protection believes that our success depends on a culture that values and celebrates equity, diversity and inclusion in our people, to achieve our vision to end cruelty and suffering to animals, forever. As an equal opportunity employer, we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment, empowering all our people to achieve their potential. We actively celebrate diversity of our people and while we have some way to go, we are committed to ensuring all our people are heard and feel included. We will not rest until we achieve equity and equality of opportunity for all our people.
